Resource Consents

A resource consent is a formal approval from a local or regional council to undertake an activity that may affect the environment or other people. The need for a resource consent is determined by the requirements of the relevant District or Regional Planning documents, or in the case of Auckland, the Unitary Plan.

We prepare the resource consent application documentation and the Assessment of Environmental Effects to submit with Council. We can engage the relevant technical experts as required to support the application, such as surveyors or ecologists.

Common types of resource consent applications include:

• Land Use Consents (for residential or rural activities, including earthworks)

• Subdivision Consents (additional titles, multiple titles or boundary adjustments)

• Coastal Permits (for activities in the coastal marine area)

• Discharge Permits (for wastewater or other discharges to land or water)

• Water Permits (for taking and using ground water or surface water)
